| Some of the finest sailing in the world is done on the famous Bras d'Or Lakes of Nova Scotia, Canada. Known for its gentle, fog-free waters, beautiful anchorages and hundreds of coves and islands, the Lakes are an international cruising destination that attract hundreds of boating enthusiasts every year.
The Bras d'Or Lakes are an arm of the Atlantic Ocean with a total size of 1099 sq km (425 sq miles) in the centre of Cape Breton Island. This saltwater lake is about 90 km (60miles) long and is surrounded by high hills. Normal air temperatures for July and August are 23 to 28 degrees Celsius (73 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit). Water temperatures run from 21 to 25 degrees Celsius (70 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit).
